Power and Water provides comprehensive inductions, residential training courses, on site training and mentoring. In addition, quarterly contract reviews focus on ESO performance, workforce planning and developing capacity.
We strive to ensure ESOs work in a safe environment with a commitment to occupational, health and safety training.
Three-day workshops are held in the major regional central of Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs.
Power and Water also supports trainees of the Certificate II in Electrotechnology and Certificate II in Water Operations in partnership with local shires, Group Training NT and Charles Darwin University.
Both qualifications are suitable for the ESO traineeship program, which aims to increase capacity within remote communities and Indigenous employment.
We are committed to up-skilling local people in remote communities and providing a clear, achievable pathway to meaningful employment.
The current contractual model for employment of ESOs has allowed many of the shires to leverage extended services such as municipal and community services with the sharing of vehicles, tools and administrative functions.
Training programs have also benefited education organisations with the delivery of courses such as occupational health and safety, computing, time management, interactive and numeracy.
The ESO role is critical and Indigenous people can aspire to this position. The trainee structure provides guidance, mentoring and career paths with positive outcomes for Indigenous employment and education.
